Greetings Brothers & Sisters,
I can’t believe that I am now the Department of Oregon Sr. Vice President. It seems like yesterday I wrote my first article introducing myself as your Department of Oregon Guard. This is year five (5) in the Department line and I have learned so much and met so many new people. During convention, on June 11, 2022, at the Mill Casino, I was sworn in. My name is Debbie Little but, in the Auxiliary, I am called Cookie.
When I first joined the Auxiliary and attended my first Convention, I told myself, I want to be one of those people who stop and say hi and hug their brothers and sisters because I know them. Well, the last four (4) years have given me that opportunity. I have met so many of you by attending your District meetings as the Department Representative. I absolutely love going to a District meeting and greeting so many folks I know. Another great opportunity I have had were the Chairmanships I have held in the last years. I feel like my family has grown so big.
I am very excited about this upcoming year. We are heading toward a new normal, and one thing I know for sure is that the VFW Auxiliary is nothing if not adaptable. We have learned how to hold meetings virtually, still participate in community activities and recruit new members. We are a strong organization, and we are moving forward.
I look forward to seeing many of you during District meetings, Training Academies, Mid-Winter conference and of course Convention.
As your Senior Vice, I can start making my list for Chairmen for our programs and appointments for my year. If you are interested in a position as a chairperson, or a member of the floor team, or Patriotic Instructor, or the member of a committee, let me know. I would love to hear from you and chat about what your interest is.
I am leaving on July 11th to begin a road trip to Kansas City, MO for National Convention. I will be meeting up with Department Sr. Vice President’s from across the country. We met each other in Michigan during our Jr. Vice training and exchanged so many great ideas, I can’t wait to see them again.
