Greetings,
Summer will be winding down soon, the “dog days of summer” will end and school will be back in session. It is time to rejuvenate our passion for our veterans. I was lucky to attend the National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri and I was not disappointed. I am happy to say that Department of Oregon came home with some well-earned Program Awards. We win these awards and cash ($$) for the Department due to your hard work every year. I am hoping that we make 2022-2023 a fantastic year.
There have been some changes that were passed by resolution. I always enjoy this portion of the convention because the meeting is run by Roberts Rules of Order and the national line follows these rules to a T. Please read the articles that are posted on the website as they will give you the updated information. Please make sure to read Sonya Sallee’s article as there were important changes for treasurers. I am sure that Madam President Debby Fawver will also introduce changes in her articles.
I will be traveling some in September to be the Department Representative for a few District Meetings. I hope to see many of you at those meetings. Now is the time to be active in our programs and report your hard work to the chairmen. Each chairperson will write an article to be posted on the website and hopefully answer many of your questions. Don’t hesitate to reach out to a program chairperson if you have questions on how to work a particular program.
Our National President is coming!! Jane Reape will be visiting Oregon September 5th through the 6th. All Auxiliary members are invited to participate in her visit. Jane will be staying at the Best Western Riverside Plus in Oregon City. On the itinerary is a visit to the Oregon Gardens, Clackamus Veterans Village and dinner at Three Rivers #1324. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet our National President.
Western Conference will be hosted by the Department of Oregon this year. YAY!! This is a great opportunity for us to show off our great state. The conference is November 3-6 and is located at the Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel. Now is your opportunity to experience a Western Conference without breaking the bank for travel.
